The Concorde Group, in conjunction with The Food Bank For Westchester, has announced a new program to help feed Westchester's hungry. The Food Bank for Westchester is dedicated to alleviating hunger in Westchester County, NY. Chronic malnutrition affects children who cannot learn and thrive, seniors who suffer needlessly, and adults who are in poor health, inattentive and unproductive in the work force.
The Food Bank solicits and administers donations from both the public and private sectors, distributing food through local agencies, which, through various programs, meet the needs of individuals and families. The Food Bank distributes approximately 5 million pounds of food annually including almost a million pounds of fresh local produce and eggs. Additionally the Food Bank rescues prepared and perishable food from local restaurants, institutional cafeterias and supermarkets that might otherwise be discarded.
Concorde has had a longstanding and satisfying association with the Food Bank over the past 8 years which has included annual contributions on behalf of its clients and Vice President, Bill Bernstein serving as Board President. We are proud to have played a small part in serving our community by helping those who are in need.
Effective January 1, 2009, Concorde will donate $.25 per hour to the Food Bank for every new temp order placed by clients who request it. Additionally, Concorde will donate $100 for every permanent candidate placed with our client companies. Each $1 donated to the Food Bank buys $4. worth of food to help feed the hungry!
During these trying economic times, it is imperative that we pull together as a business community and give to those less fortunate. Concorde has participated in community service since its inception in 1986 and firmly believes that being a positive business role model makes it a better corporate citizen.
Please feel free to contact any Concorde staff member to find out additional information on the Food Bank program or please visit www.foodbankforwestchester.org for more on how you can help this most worthy cause.
